Job Description

POSITION OBJECTIVE

The primary responsibility of the Sourcing Specialist is to source products for AGI customers that could not be fulfilled through the catalogue or online offering. As well as, identify alternate sources and product/service solutions in support of business objectives and researching and recommending alternate solutions in support of customer objectives (ie. Lead time, functionality, cost savings etc). Once the products have been sourced, the Sourcing Specialist will be responsible for Negotiating terms and conditions with suppliers and determine the customer sell price.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sources products with a focus on total opportunity and balance of GP and revenue to contribute higher earnings
  • Established suppliers, unidentified suppliers and new supplier set ups
  • Identify missing supplier information and update accurately in SAP (?)
  • Works well with assigned internal customers and suppliers using constant professional communication during each transaction
  • Proactively supports team members on product and sourcing inquiries
  • Demonstrate initiative in suggesting changes and improving systems and processes of the department
  • Resolves urgent issues and researches appropriate information to reach decision on non routine issues
  • Makes purchasing and pricing decisions based on customer need, market and competitior conditions, product specifications, supplier strategy and business policy
  • Identifies sources for product/services in support of customer requests in a timely manner. Ensures proper product selections, matches and/or alternatives at the best possible cost.
  • Maintains existing supplier relationships and initiate potential new supplier relationships
  • Possesses superior ability to negotiate with suppliers and convey pricing logic internal partners.
  • Solicits and evaluates proposals employing appropriate cost and price analysis techniques
  • Communicates performance expectations and provide qualitative feedback to Product Management regarding performance of suppliers
  • Executes standard work processes and utilitizes tools provided to make sound decisions
  • Achieves productivity measurements including number of quotes completed per day, cycle time, average mark up and buy/quote ratio in conjunction with key financial metrics
  • Proactively communicates with all stakeholders on status, pricing logic and decisions and teams up with business partners - ISSR's, Branch Managers, District Sales Managers and Account Managers


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-Secondary degree, with a specialization in business, supply chain or related field preferred
  • MRO product knowledge and experience preferred
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Strong oral and written communication and customer service skills
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, interfaces, PC applications, e-mail and internet search and navigation
  • Demonstrated ability to mult-task in a fast paced team environment
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and accountability of actions and decisions
  • Strong interpersonal
