JOB TITLE: Business Intelligence Expert
REPORTS TO: Head of Planning and Analytics

RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership

o Elevate the profile, capability and business value of BI at the company

o Entrench BI as integral to the strategic planning process in order to

- encourage innovative new product offerings

- enable and support key initiatives with appropriate analytical and reporting tools

o Facilitate and encourage a self service information and analytic culture

o Educate and promote best practice analytical behaviour

o Coordinate and drive consensus between the business and the technology organizations for BI projects

o Provide best-practice technology and architectural guidance to the organization with regard to BI

Planning and Strategy

o Extend the company's BI roadmap to a detailed plan for achieving the BI vision described in the BI Strategy

o Create, gain consensus and publish the plan, mandate and goals of the BI Group

o Participate in the strategic planning process to ensure Analytic support and leadership for key initiatives

Organization

o Establish the governance structure for intake, approval and management of BI projects

o Establish the organizational structure for BI resources required to execute the mandate

o Establish and staff the BI Group with appropriate resources required to execute the mandate

Execution and Management

o Execute the BI Plan

o Manage the BI Projects and be accountable for on time / budget delivery, adoption and business value

o Oversee and manage the career growth of BI resources and be responsible for job enrichment

Requirements COMPETENCIES

Education:

University degree in Business Administration or Computer Science

Member of TDWI or similar professional association or participation

Knowledge, Experience, and Skills:

Required:



10-15 years experience in the BI domain ? preferably managing a BI unit in a medium to large organization

Excellent leadership skills ? previous experience and proven ability to able to identify, communicate and drive the BI vision as well as inspire behavioural and cultural changes; able to clearly translate IT investments into business concepts; ability to drive standards.

Excellent management skills ? able to organize the BI Group, establish roles and responsibilities, create and manage the BI Group budget, establish BI governance and project management structures, set priorities etc., ability to build and motivate a BI team.

Excellent organizational skills - promote the BI Group within the organization and secure commitment from stakeholders to support BI structure and governance

Excellent communication and problem solving skills ? ability to contribute to executive level strategy discussions and articulate the vision and value of BI and the BI Group to the organization

Excellent mentoring skills ? ability to develop and enrich the BI resources in the organization

Knowledge of IT industry trends and business intelligence software/hardware technology

Understanding of the Financial Services industry or a similar

Excellent oral and written communication skills; proven ability to interact with executive team in a consultative manner

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to lead a team of professionals
